Task Hazard Management Feature

Task Hazard ScreenThe Task Hazard module is used to evaluate hazards that require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as a last resort protective measure. Task Hazard evaluation is a two-step process. This module facilitates both steps.

Once hazards have been identified the type(s) of injury, areas of the body that could be damaged, and the required PPE, can be entered. CIRSMA uses filters, based on the area of the body and the nature of the injury, to facilitate the PPE evaluation process. Each area of potential injury is linked to a group of protective devices. For example: If the head is the area of the body under consideration, CIRSMA presents PPE such as safety glasses, earplugs, hard hat, etc. Specific areas of potential injury are also selectable. Again, if the head is the area of the body under consideration, the user can select specific areas such as eyes, ears, scalp, neck, etc.

In addition to the selection of PPE, the CIRSMA™ system can be used to document the type and cause of the potential harm. The nature of the injury is linked to the potential causes of that type of injury. This information can be used to communicate hazards to workers in order to help them to understand the rational used to select the PPE, and the importance of using the required PPE as instructed.

Task Hazard evaluations can be used during the risk assessment process as a part of the overall risk reduction strategy. Multiple Task Hazard documents can be linked to each hazard zone.
